Can I change the system time of an Oceanstor v3 storage device? Will services be affected? Thanks.

Dear Phany,

Have a good day.

You can change the system time of a storage device, but it will affect certain functions that depend on the system time, such as licenses and alarms. For example, it may cause licenses to expire ahead of schedule, alter the time of files changes, and cause snapshots to expire and be automatically deleted. As a result, it is recommended not to change the system time. You can configure an NTP server to update the system time automatically at the early stage of the system running.

Thanks.

Hi Phanny! you can try below steps:

Procedure

  1. 1. Log in to DeviceManager.

  2. 2. Choose imgDownload?uuid=7598ae3f1a6b4a3287f7826d4411e525Settings imgDownload?uuid=3e5d89fc67b642b4ae07adf2e465a75fBasic Information > Device Time.

  3. 3. Configure the storage device time.

  4. 4. Set NTP automatic synchronization

4.1 Select Set NTP automatic synchronization.

  5. 4. 2 Type the IPv4 address, IPv6 address or domain name of the NTP server in NTP Server Address.

  6. 5. Confirm the device time setting.

  7. a. Click Save.

The Warning dialog box is displayed.

  8. b. Select I have read and understand the consequences associated with performing this operation, and     click OK.

The Execution Result dialog box is displayed indicating that the operation succeeded.

  9. c. Click Close.

After this operation is executed, if the device time changes, the following impacts may be triggered:

- If the changed device time exceeds the license validity period, the license may be invalid.
- If the changed device time exceeds the certificate validity period, the certificate may expire.
- If the changed device time exceeds the password validity period set by a user, the system may force the user to change the login password.

Thanks!
