Can IS-IS be run on the management interface of the main control board of the NE40E-X8A router?

A network topology is as follows:

     U2000----Out-of-band management network----AR----NE40E_01----NE40E_02---- NE40E_03

The customer wants to connect the AR to the management interface on the MPU of the NE40E_01, and then use the ISIS to establish the routes from the U2000 to each NE40E.

Is this solution feasible?

Hi Hobbit,
Only static protocols can be run on the management interface. You can try the following way:
1. On the AR, configure a static route with the next-hop pointing to G0/0/0 of NE40E _01 and import the static route to IS-IS.
2. On NE40E_01, configure a static route with the destination address being U2000 and the next-hop being the AR. Import the static route to the dynamic routing protocol so that 02 and 03 can learn the static route.

Hello,

The Management routing table supports dynamic routing separate from the data interface routing table. A given dynamic routing process must run on either the management-only interface or the data interface; you cannot mix both types.

Thanks

I remember that the management port G0/0/0 does not seem to support dynamic routing.
