Today, I would like to share with you the comparison of BSS and ISS.
BSS (Basic Service Set) :
It’s a service set that connects and allows communication between wireless components or devices.
The medium is referred to as an Access Point here (AP). An access point (AP) is a device that enables wireless devices to connect to a wired network.
Wireless devices communicate across a medium in a BSS.
There is only one AP in the BSS.
BSS is simple, although it is rarely utilized.
BSSs are typically used to link a large number of wireless devices.
Infrastructure mode is another name for this mode.
In comparison to ISS, BSS typically provides short-range wireless communication.
BSS does not allow users or clients to travel freely from one location to another.
A medium, such as an AP, is used to link clients or users.
ISS (Independent Service Set) :
It is a service set that connects and allows communication among wireless components or devices without the use of any medium.
Wireless gadgets connect directly with each other in the ISS without the use of a medium.
Because ISS does not require an AP, it does not have one.
In comparison to BSS, ISS is widely used.
ISS normally establishes a link between two or more stationary devices or laptops that require file exchange. There isn't any other network available.
It's also referred to as ad-hoc or peer-to-peer mode.
In comparison to BSS, ISS typically provides long-range wireless connectivity.
ISS facilitates mobility, allowing users or clients to move freely from one location to another while maintaining uninterrupted communication.
Without the usage of an Access point, clients or users can communicate directly with one another.
