Brocade/Huawei SNS series FC switches are connected to esight and cannot be discovered.

The SNS2224 switch needs to monitor and manage the connected eSight. The BNA server is installed according to the product documentation. The SMI agent is configured and added to the agent. Then the switch is added to the esight, but the switch cannot be connected to eSight for management and monitoring.

1. As the eSight takes over the Brocade/Huawei SNS series FC switches, you need to set up a BNA server in the middle and configure it on the switch. Therefore, we first check if the configuration above the switch is correct, check the items as follows:

 a. Run the "Web Tools" tool on the Brocade switch and select "Configure > Switch Admin".

 b. In the Switch Administration dialog box that is displayed, select the Show Advanced Mode > SNMP tab. For SNMPv1 alarm reporting, configure the SNMPv1 Community/Trap Recipient list. Add the IP address of the eSight to the Recipient item in the SNMPv1 Community/Trap Recipient list. Click Apply to complete the configuration.

 c. If the option is grayed out, you need to log in to the Brocade switch as the root user. Run the following command to enable the snmpv1 protocol: snmpconfig --enable snmpv1. After the command is executed, log in to the Sever Management Console of the BNA. On the Services tab, click the Restart button to restart the service.

 d. When using snmpV1, please deselect "Enable Authentication trap"

2. The configuration on the switch is correct. We need to check whether the configuration on the BNA server is correct.

 a. In the Start menu, select Sever Management Console. The Sever Management Console interface is displayed.

 b. Click on "Configure SMI Agent"

 c. Enter the user name and password in the dialog box respectively, click "Login", the default user name is "administrator", and the default password is "password".

At this point, you can click on Fabric Discovery to check whether the switch information is added to the BNA server and discovered by the BNA server, as shown in the following figure:

3. Check that the check items in step 2 are also normal. The switch can be found by the BNA server. We are beginning to suspect that there is a problem with the server port. It may not be open. Check the default port ID of SMI Agnet to 5989, on the machine where the BNA service is installed. Enter netstat -ano under the CMD interface, which will print out the local active ports, as shown below:

The 5989 port is not monitored on the BNA server, so it is determined that 5989 port was not licensend because BNA service was not restarted after modify SMI configuration .

Click the Restart button in the console interface to restart the entire BNA service.
