1. What are the application scenarios of the BPS and PPS schemes? The PPS scheme is developed based on the BPS scheme because the BPS scheme is easier than the PPS scheme. Therefore, the PPS scheme is preferred to the BPS scheme. In some scenarios, however, the PPS scheme cannot trigger switching based on a specific port.
That is, if the services at multiple ports of one board are associated services, all the services need to be switched in the PPS switching.
For example, if packets are received by the IP1 port and then transmitted by the IP2 port on the active board, the IP1 and IP2 ports are associated ports. The services at the IP1 and IP2 ports need to be switched to the standby board in the PPS switching. If only the services at the IP1 port are switched, the services become unavailable because they cannot be transmitted by the IP2 port on the active board after they are received by the IP1 port of the standby board.
2. Is the PPS scheme effective for the EPLAN service whose VB contains two ports and multiple VCTRUNKs?Yes. The two ports mounted on the VB are associated ports (The PPS scheme automatically judges the association relationship between ports). Therefore, the services at the two ports need to be switched in the PPS switching.
The PPS scheme is recommended for EMS4 and EGS4 boards Optix OSN 3500.
