Hi, I was just thought out that the BGP RR always configured between two connected device, then is it possible to create BGP RR across devices? As the topology figure

Can we assign the LSW3 as the BGP RR client on LSW1? Thanks.

Hello,
When devices are connected, clients can be configured across devices. RR is mainly used to configure peers. When peers are established, configuring clients across devices does not affect network data transmission.

What should be pointed out is that when assign the RR client across device, the route to the peer should exist on the  RR.

it is recommended to use the BGP RR feature on EBGP peers. Because it will be used to minimize the number of adjacencies in a routing table. RR will advertise routing information from its clients to other clients, from its clients to non-clients or vise versa. but it cant advertise from non-clients to non-clients.
To configure RR across devices, you have to identify your topology.
Firstly check which kind of RR you want to use. Is it hierarchical. normal.
Then check which member has to be client and RR. according to the scenario, Router in the edge will be RR in most cases.
Then the selected RR will redistribute routing information as the topology.
