Hello, everyone!
I would like to share with you an issue about BD_STATUS alarm on the FAN tray assembly in an OptiX OSN 8800 UPS (Universal Platform Subrack).
Description
Each OptiX OSN 8800 Universal Platform Subrack has one fan tray assembly, which includes eight independent fans and an air filter. The air filter can be drawn out and replaced.
A fan tray assembly inside a subrack dissipates heat for the subrack to ensure that the subrack works effectively at a specified temperature. The fan tray assembly is located on the lower part of a subrack.

Condition:
A user is commissioning a 2-degree ROADM node (OSN 8800 T32 + 2 x UPS).
Symptom:
The BD_STATUS alarm appears on the FAN tray assembly in one UPS.

Impact:
The FAN is offline. Therefore, the functions related to the FAN are unavailable.

Severity
Mayor
Root Cause:
The possible causes of the BD_STATUS alarm in this case are as follows:
1. The board is not inserted.
2. The board socket is loose.
3. The mail box is faulty.
4. The board is resetting.
5. The sub-board is not inserted.
6. The socket of the sub-board is loose.
Solution:
Finally, the technician staff can see the FAN is physical offline (operating status indicator led is off). Therefore, they check whether the FAN tray assembly insertion is firm.
After physical reset, the FAN works succesfully.
