In traditional DR scenarios, eReplication licenses are described as follows:
1. The protected objects are VMware VMs or Huawei VMs.
When applying for a license, purchase a VM license. One-dimension license can protect 10 VMs. The number of VMs is calculated based on the number of production VMs.
2. The protected object is the database or local file system.
When applying for a license, purchase a host license. One dimension license can protect one host. The number of hosts is calculated based on the number of production hosts.
3. The protected object is a pure LUN or NAS file system.
If only the protection function (scheduled remote replication or periodic snapshot) is used, no license is required. If you need to use the restoration function (such as attaching a snapshot to a host), you need to apply for a license.
4. Applying for a License
After eReplication is installed, there is a three-month trial period. After the trial period, new protected groups cannot be created and the restoration function of the created protected groups is unavailable.
