Hello everyone,

I want to know how the carrier achieves the rate limit. If I purchase 300M bandwidth from the carrier, but the outbound interface bandwidth of the firewall is 1Gb. Will the traffic of the interface exceed 300M, causing packet loss?

Does anyone know the reason? Thanks!

Hi@Sprout,
The device implements rate limiting through traffic policing, please refer to
https://support.huawei.com/hedex/hdx.do?docid=EDOC1100068394&id=sec_admin_qos_0004&text=%2525253Cb%2525253ETraffic%2525253C%2525252Fb%2525253E%25252B%2525253Cb%2525253EPolicing%2525253C%2525252Fb%2525253E%25252Band%25252B%2525253Cb%2525253EShaping%2525253C%2525252Fb%2525253E&lang=en

In normal cases, the interface bandwidth does not exceed the limit.
To prevent packets from being discarded, you can also use the bandwidth { egress | ingress } command to set the bandwidth and overloads protection threshold for the link of the specified interface.

And it's recommended to configure Bandwidth Management to ensure that key services are preferentially forwarded when congestion occurs.
