A backhaul: also called a signal tunnel, is a configuration where telephony signaling is a reliable transmission of a gateway to another media gateway over a packet switched network. This gateway does not need to understand and interpret this signaling information. In wireless technology, backhaul refers to the function of transmitting voice and data traffic from a cell site to a switch.
backbone: A large tuned network that connects other networks and is used to carry data hundreds or even thousands of miles away.

Backbone —- Main wireless link:

Let me create a simple draw for you:

Z————A—————-B—————-C————-D

From Z-A-B-C-D will be backbone if rest of links are going out from these nodes like branches of tree. You can say in a tree, a trunk is Backbone and branches are extension wireless link.

Backhaul means: In above diag, for D —-between Z to C will be back-haul link.
