B818-260 Firmware & USB Connectivity

We have a new B818-260 here that is equipped with an ISP branded firmware:

  • Hardware version: WL1B818M
  • Software version: 8.0.1.1(H160SP1C801)
  • Web UI version: WEBUI 8.0.1.31(W2SP2C801)
  • Configuration file version: B818-260-CUST 8.0.1.1(C801)

I have the following questions:

  1. Can this unit be updated with a generic firmware (since we are not going to use it with the ISP the unit came from, so the branded firmware does not make any sense to us)?

  2. Where to get the latest (generic) firmware from for a local update?

  3. I could not find further details about the USB 2.0 (?) of this unit. What's the max size of storage that can be connected and which file systems does the unit support?

Unfortunately this is not helpful, because there is no support or any kind of information for a router like the B818-260 at the Huawei Community Support, and contacting Huawei Regional Support (which I already tried) did not result in any kind of assistance as well.

Well, maybe you can try contact with the ISP to get help. As far as I know, some ISP customized such router to provide the FTTH to the users.

Huawei Regional Support point to the ISP and the ISP is of no help. I can't believe I have to use a paid service like https://easy-firmware.com to get a newer and unbranded firmware! Why can Huawei not simply provide a firmware-update service / server for consumers?
