Description
In some case when inserted a new board have alarm SWDL_PKG_NOBDSOFT.
Condition:
After a board is replaced, the system automatically checks whether the version of the new board after being online matches the NE version.
Impact:
As the software of the board is not contained in the software package, the board cannot perform automatic match. As a result, the software version of the board is inconsistent with that of the NE. Some functions may operate abnormally.
Severity:
Minor
Root Cause:
The software of some boards is removed during loading of the customized software package.
Solution:
Automatically Upgrading Online Boards
Prerequisites
· Transmission domain:
§ The NE Software Management must communicate with NEs successfully.
§ In the case of NE support simulation package upgrade:
§ A simulation package cannot exist on the NE that only supports simulation package.
§ The required simulation package of the NE must have been imported to the software library. And the version information set in the software library must be consistent with the one of the current SCC boards.
§ The simulation package imported to the software library must include the software of the online board.
§ In the case of NE support software package upgrade:
§ The NE software package used during the automatic upgrade after board replacement can exclude the software of the new board.
§ The required software package of the NE must have been imported to the software library. And the version information set in the software library must be consistent with the one of the current SCC boards.
§ The software package imported to the software library must include the software of the online board.
Note
The following situations do not support automatic upgrade of a board:
§ The board is online due to an upgrade task. For example, the board is restarted.
§ The new board is the SCC board.
§ The version of the new board matches the current version of the NE.
· Access domain: The required package files or patch files of the NE must have been imported to the software library. And the version information set in the software library must be consistent with the one of the current NE.
Context
Notice
The automatic package upgrade task contains the activating operation, this may result in service interruption.
· Transmission domain:
When the new board is online, the system receives a message indicating that the new board is online and then automatically checks whether the new board needs to be upgraded.
If the new board needs to be upgraded, a dialog box is displayed, indicating that a new board is online, and prompting you whether to upgrade the board immediately.
§ If you choose to upgrade the board immediately, proceed with Step 1.2 directly.
§ If you choose to upgrade the board at a later time, perform all the operations described in "Procedure" in this topic.
· Access domain:
When the new board is online, the system automatically checks whether the new board needs to be upgraded manually.
§ If the NCE finds the boards to upgrade manually, the boards will display on the interface, then it is unnecessary to perform Step 2.3.
§ If the NCE doesn't find the boards to upgrade manually, perform all the operations described in "Procedure" in this topic.
Procedure
· Transmission domain:
1. Open the Network Management app and choose Maintenance > NE Software Management > Automatic/Online Board Upgrade from the main menu.
2. Choose Optix NE tab in the displayed dialogue box.
3. In the displayed dialog box, right-click the board that needs to be upgraded, and then choose Upgrade.


Note
§ If Upgrade Status shows a failure during an upgrade, you can right-click the board and then choose Retry to perform the current operation again.
§ If you need not perform any operation on a new online board or the board is already upgraded, you can right-click the board and then choose Remove to delete it from the list.
§ The execution of the automatic upgrade task will ignore isolated boards. After the task is executed, you cannot determine which board is isolated. If you need to release the isolation status of a board, right-click the board and choose Free Isolation from the shortcut menu.
§ Creation Time refers to the creation time of automatic upgrade task.
· Access domain:
0. Open the Network Management app and choose Maintenance > NE Software Management > Automatic/Online Board Upgrade from the main menu.
1. Choose Access NE tab in the displayed dialogue box.
2. Click Find to filter the device list on which the board to upgrade is located.
3. In the displayed dialog box, right-click the board that needs to be upgraded, and then choose Set Auto Load Parameter.
If Set Auto Load Parameter shows a failure during an upgrade, you can right-click the NE and then choose Retry to perform the current operation again. After the operation is completed, query alarm window upgrade results 5 minutes later.
· If the operation is successful, the Clearance Time is displayed a detailed operation time on the query alarm window.
· If the operation is failed, the Clearance Time is displayed as empty on the query alarm window.
Result
In the Online Board Upgrade window, the Upgrade status (Transmission domain NEs) or Set Auto Load Parameter (Access Domain NEs) area displays the operation result.
Conclusion:
Issue solved.
