APs are not being discovered by the eSight for management

This post talks about the issue that APs are not being discovered by the eSight for management. Please find more details below.

[Issue]

1. SNMP test fail with AC.

2. The wireless LAN resources don’t exist in eSight .

3. Can’t add AC and AP is not being synchronized.

[Analysis]

1. Checked the documentation.

2. Checked the AC configuration and eSight parameters.

3. Checked the eSight configuration and added resources.

[Root causes]

1. Wrong parameters added.

2. Missing configuration.

3. Missing installed components in eSight.

[Solution]

Reference this guide to manually add an AC to enable APs to be automatically added to eSight:

1. In the case of the SNMP issue, the configuration on AC is as follows:

We undo the snmp-agent local-engineid in case it causes any conflict with the eSight.

Also add the read view to the snmp-agent group:

system view

snmp-agent mib-view View_ALL include iso

snmp-agent group v3 snmpv3usergroup privacy read-view View_ALL write-view View_ALL notify-view View_ALL

2. In the which wireless LAN resources don’t exist in eSight:

We found the WLAN management component is not installed so helped to install the component

Checked about > Components, we didn't find WLAN managment.  

Followed the eSight installation process:

In step 7 can find the components need to be installed 

When do the increment installation:

1. Make sure that the version of the installation package is same as the installed package.

2. When reach the select component step, only pick wlan component to install.

Then it is done.

For the issue that can’t add AC and AP is not being synchronized.

We follow the reference example above and the AC is added successfully but needs to be refreshed and the AP polling needs to be applied so AC can synchronize the AP information with the AC.
