Using AP2051DN-E, when I view the list of associated STAs, I get the MAC address instead of the User Name.

How to show the device name instead of its MAC address?

Hello khalilio,
Sorry, I just made a mistake.

The user name filed corresponds to the authentication method.

In open authentication mode, the MAC address of the user is displayed.

In MAC address authentication mode using the MAC address, the MAC address of the user is displayed.

In MAC address authentication mode using the fixed user name, the fixed name of the user is displayed.

In Portal or 802.1x authentication mode, the user name entered upon user access is displayed.

Thanks chenhui, but I am not sure this is relevant to my case.
The equipment I am using is AP2051DN-E, while the instructions you provided are more relevant to a controller.
Do you have any example for applying this fix directly at the Access Point instead of the AC Switch or Router?

The type of certification you use is MAC address authentication?

Hi,
No, in the authentication profile, I am currently using "Non-authentication."

I want to know what happens if you use the display Station all command.
@jason_hu: this is what I get when I run the command:

I suggest you change the user name.

Which user name? and where do I change it? at the device level, or in the AP?
Please note that the same devices are identified properly and their host information is correctly indicated when they are associated with my Router or other brand Access Points.

HI,

Ik think the user names are actualy the names that in CLI refer to the usernames used for authentication.

So CLI en GUI present this differently.

If you would use 802.1x it would state the actual name used to authenticate.

If you use a non 802.1x based authentication method like mac authentication or even open like WPA, the username is presented as the mac adres as the controller / AP does need an unique key field to be able to tell the difference between the assiociated clients.

Yes, WPAX/PSK is not an authentication mechanism, it is an encryption mechanism hence not using the right key is talking giberisch to the AP.

So if you do not use 802.1x there will be a mac adress as username, if you do the username will be used but mac authentication wll, that is already in the name will use the mac adres as username.

There is a way to identify hosts but I would advise this approach only for small networks.

If you would use PPSK it will show the account name of the used key in the username field,
