AP isolation on Huawei HG8145V5

HiCoins as reward: 1 (problem unresolved)

Hi, recently I changed my broadband connection plan (from 30mbps to 140mbps) and the provider replaced my previous set, internet modem (unknown brand) and WiFi router (TP-Link TL-WR941ND), by a new one: a single modem + router (Huawei) model HG8145V5.

Before the replacement everything was working fine, i.e. I could comunicate between my PCs and with the Brother Printer via WiFi without problems. However the new Huawei is not allowing this comunication anymore. I've tried to print from my PC and from my mobile and no one could see the printer and, more then that, I've also tested transfering huge files between PCs and it took much much time, so it seems that PCs are using bluetooth and not Wi-Fi.

After some research I discovered that Wireless isolation, AP isolation, privacy separator, guest Wi-Fi network or even UPnP functions could be related to this problem. So I looked for these features on my router and found these three: Home sharing, Media sharing e UPnP configuration. They are all under the Network Application tab (note: I've found nothing under the WLAN tab). These function are likely those I was looking for to solve my problem, but when I enable all of them (even rebooting the router) nothing cahnges, i.e. I still not able to print from my PC neither my mobile. Any ideas?

PS: My printer is also operating via WiFi, i.e. I am not using USB cable to connect it to my PC or my router.

Here there are some screenshots of Huawei router:

Hello, friend!

I've read your question carefully and I'd like to help you solve it.

First of all, I'm a little confused about your networking model:  a single modem + router (Huawei) model HG8145V5.

Does the HG8145V5 function as a downstream router?

But the HG8145V5 can only be used for PON access. The upstream access is GPON. The HG8145V5 is connected to user-side devices (such as mobile phones and computers) through network ports or Wi-Fi.

I'm a little worried because the networking mode is not working properly.

If you can, please export the configuration file and one-click information.

Is the printer searchable in PC file printing?

Thanks!

@Chenxintao , thanks for the response!

I'm not a person with knowledge of networks, I just take some risks with the basics and so I'll try my best to follow your instructions and answer your questions.

First of all, I'm a little confused about your networking model: a single modem + router (Huawei) model HG8145V5.

If you didn't understand that, I probably have said it wrong, my fault, sorry. My equipment (Huawei - HG8145V5) receives an optical-fiber cable and spread the internet to other devices through network ports or Wi-Fi. I've said "modem plus router" because before that they were separated in two devices, one used to receive the optical-fiber cable and pass the signal to a router (TP-Link) that used to spread it.

Does the HG8145V5 function as a downstream router?

I would guess that yes, though I'm afraid I am not capable to answer this. So I have made a scheme of my network model in order to help you visualize my description:

The HG8145V5 receives the optical-fiber cable from the broadband provider and spread it to everyone. All devices, except for two, uses Wi-Fi, including the printer. I have configured the old TP-Link router as a repeater to my living room, but I think it's not important, because I want to share files between PCs and print documents through HG8145V5 network, i.e. it won't pass through TP-Link.

Here they are. These are the ones you asked for?

[I'm not able to upload files here, so I'll put the configuration file as a downloadable link in Google Drive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bs-zKnZAw8nhi8L27nrAyGbzXbiMjmFL/view?usp=sharing]

Is the printer searchable in PC file printing?

Yes and no. I can see the printer in my PC but it's because I have printed on it before (with the old network setup), so the printer's software is pre-installed on my PC. However, it appears as offline (I made sure that the printer was connected to the Wi-Fi network), so if I try to print, the software accuses that it can't reach the printer. So, in practice, I can't see it.

Thank you!

NOTE: To test if the issue was with the PCs or the printer, I have temporarily created another Wi-Fi network with an extra router (without connection with internet) and have connected them all to it. I was able to print from my mobile phone and I could share files between PCs in a faster way (indicating it was being done by Wi-Fi, not bluetooh). The conclusion is that the issue is likely occurring with the HG8145V5.

After several attempts, the problem was solved. Can't say what solved it, but I suggest you to pray, first of all, then try EVERYTHING from reinstalling programs for the printers to update Windows and enable all the functionalities that I've mentioned.

My conclusion is that I haven't ever seen a router so bad. There is no decent support from Hauwei. There is no decent support from the provider. You just can try to solve it for your own.

I wish you the best of luck.

I am sorry! My friend!

I'm dedicated to every Ask for help post, but since you posted the issue on WLAN, I couldn't get a timely notification.

The HG8145V5 is an access network device.
