What does that tell us beside the fact that our esteemed Community members are thirsty for knowledge and want to learn more about what Huawei has to offer in terms of lifelong learning and continuous professional development?
Therefore, the topic I'm proposing for you today is the overview of the Huawei ICT Academy, with an emphasis on the Huawei ICT Academy Western Europe. Let's get this party started, shall we?
CONTEXT OF THE HUAWEI ICT ACADEMY

There has always been a gap between higher education talent supply and developing industry demand. No matter how hard educational institutions, in conjuction with business organizations, try to bridge it, it will forever be present for various reasons such as:
- the collaboration between universities and enterprises is spontaneous and shallow;
- enterprises aren’t active in the training process, thus not being aligned with the talent cultivation goals of universities;
- teachers lacking motivation to participate in industry-education cooperation projects;
- lack of desire to learn among students.
This is where the Huawei ICT Academy comes in.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
What could actually be done with regards to tackling the above-mentioned issue? Well, the answer is the Huawei ICT Academy! Below is a video in which Pallavi Malhotra, the Director of Huawei ICT Academy Western Europe describes the very essence of the program:
Putting it into words, the Huawei ICT Academy is about implementing an open, shared, ICT talent ecosystem that benefits all parties. Launched in 2013, Huawei has managed to grow this school-enterprise cooperation project into an actual talent supply chain covering the entire process of learning, certification and employment by deepening the cooperation mechanism between universities and enterprises, aiming to promote industry development and innovate talent development models based on enterprise requirements.

THE HUAWEI ICT COMPETITION
The centerpiece of the Huawei ICT Academy is, without a doubt, the Huawei ICT Competition. Reaching its 8th edition this year, Huawei aims to provide international competition and communication platforms for college students worldwide, increase their ICT knowledge, stimulate their interest in learning and innovation capabilities and improve their self-learning and problem-solving abilities to promote learning through competition through its annual ICT-related contest.
There are benefits for teachers who choose to mentor students who take part in the Huawei ICT Competition, as they can easily expand their professional technical fields and reflect on their teaching methods based on their students' performance and competition results to improve the practicality and relevance of teaching and promote teaching through competition. At the same time, universities and participating enterprises can get a great opportunity for talent supply and demand communication, while also promoting employment.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Bringing together students, teachers, universities and businesses under the same academic "roof", the Huawei ICT Academy addresses the closure of the everlasting gap between sheltered learning and real-life employment.
