An H802EDTB board is installed for the MA5600T of a site and 120-ohm cables are connected to the board. How to check whether the cables are correctly connected after traversing the main distribution frame (MDF)?

Hi! You need to check the following steps.

Step 1:

The default impedance of E1 of EDTB is 75Ω.  If the E1 cable is 120Ω, you need to remove all the jumpers on the EDTB board.

An H802EDTB board is installed for the MA5600T of a site-2887393-1

Jumpers J15, J16, J17, and J18 are used to set whether to ground the shield layer of the E1 port.
  • The jumper caps should be removed (which means ungrounded) if the transmit and receive resistance is 120 ohms.
  • The jumper caps should be installed (which means grounded) if the transmit and receive resistance is 75 ohms.

Step 2:

As you know, for 75Ω-E1 port, there is a Tx line and an Rx line for one E1 port. So connect the Tx and Rx lines directly. For the 120Ω-E1 port, there are 4 lines for one E1 port: Tx+ / Tx- / Rx+ / Rx-. So connect like this:

TX+ --RX+

TX- ---Rx-

For the 120Ω-E1 port (RJ45, pin 8):

1: Tx+

2: Tx-

4: Rx+

5: Rx-

A port of a cable functions as both the receive and transmit ends. To check whether a cable is correctly connected, you can short-circuit the receive and transmit ends of a port. Then, check the port status on the device. If the state is Normal, the cable connection is correct.

Before short-circuiting the receive and transmit ends, check the status of port 0/15/0. The state is Fault.
huawei(config)#display e1 state 0/15
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
F/S/P UType PTPSrvState PTPAdmState
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
0/15/0 - Fault NoLoop,No Test -
Short-circuit the receive and transmit ends and query the port status again. The state is Normal.
huawei(config)#display e1 state 0/15
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
F/S/P UType PTPSrvState PTPAdmState
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
0/15/0 - Normal NoLoop,No Test -
