[Keyword] Short domain name, adding user rights, and 12210
[Applicable version] All versions of FusionAccess V00R005C10/V100R005C20
[Description] VM provisioning at a site always fails, and the error (error code: 12210) is reported as "An exception occurs when user rights are added".
[Analysis] The log records the following error:
There is no such global user or group: cuhk\test03. This error means that Windows returns that there is no cuhk\test03 user. However, test03 user exists on the AD. Therefore, the short domain name may be incorrect. Log in to the AD and check whether the short domain name is cuhk. It is found that the short domain name is not cuhk. Typically, a short domain name is the same as the front part of a long domain name but they are different sometimes. Therefore, make clear the short domain name when you configure domain information because the short domain name is not verified during configuration due to technical reasons.
[Solution] On the ITA, choose , and delete incorrect domain configurations and add correct domain configurations.
[Summary and suggestion]
- This configuration error can be avoided in V100R005C30 and later versions because users do not need to enter short domain names.
- How to view a short domain name: In Active
Directory Users and Computers of the AD server, right-click the long
domain name on the left and choose Property in the shortcut menu. You can view
Domain Name (pre-Windows 2000), which is the
short domain name (NetBIOS domain name).
