The post will share a case for an alarm is reported that UltraPath is not installed in OceanStor S5600T V200R002 or install UltraPath is of an early version.

Problem Description

UltraPath is not installed or the installed UltraPath is of an early version.

1. Run the upadmin show version command to check the version information and determine whether UltraPath is installed. If no version information is displayed, install UltraPath for the corresponding system.

2. If the version information is displayed, UltraPath is installed. Check whether the UltraPath configuration file is normal by querying whether the issue configuration file exists under the /etc directory. The file is deleted after being backed up and the issue file is empty. As a result, UltraPath is invalid.

3. Log in as user root and run the cp /etc/issue.bak_20150706 /etc/issue command to copy the backup configuration file to the original directory. After modifying the configuration file, restart the storage device to make the modification take effect. Confirm with the customer to restart the device to avoid impact on services and data.

4. After the restart, check and verify the modification by running the upadmin show version, upadmin show vlun, and upadmin show path commands. If the information about the UltraPath version, vLUN, and path is displayed, the modification is successful.

5. After the recovery is completed successfully, inspect the device and ensure that no failed check item exists. In addition, related alarms on the ISM are cleared. Verify whether services are running properly.

Root Cause

1. Free initiators that are not configured for the host exist in the storage system.
2. UltraPath is installed but the configuration file is changed after security hardening. As a result, UltraPath alarms are generated.
3. The storage system is connected to a cluster, but the initiator-target link is not registered.
