Today, I'd like to share with you a knowledge point. The details are as follows:
Problem Description
We are facing an issue in the GPON network with one of the ONT devices. The ONT doesn't get the proper power, all services are down in the room.
Problem Analysis
There are 2 issues that exist in this MDU, suggest engineer troubleshoots on-site:
The MDU in OLT is online and normal status, but optical receive is low. Both checked from OLT, it was found that the optical attenuation value is about 34, and confirmed with engineer, the SFP has been changed ever, but received optical signal is still low.
The troubleshooting method is as follows:
ü It may fiber issue, suggest measuring the optical with a power meter, check the fiber whether any small curved or aging.
ü Please change a port from the splitter, change one port from the splitter check if it can be normal.
ü Check if any optical attenuator is added, and remove the attenuator or change to a small one.
2. The POE port cannot power on PD, confirm with the engineer, it works normally before today.
Troubleshooting method as below :
ü Please confirm whether the cable is Cat5e and less than 100M.
ü Please kindly check the cable routing path, check if the cable has any damage.
ü Please try to switch over the cable/PD/MDU port, and check the faulty device points to the MDU port or cable, or PD.
ü If the issue points to MDU port, please return it for repair, if which points to the cable or PD, please kindly check cable and PD
