Deploying Huawei AirEngine Wi-Fi 6 enhances and optimizes the user experience with four key Wi-Fi 6 technologies:


1. 8 x 8 UL/DL MU-MIMO


Wi-Fi 6 increases Multi-User, Multiple Input, Multiple Output (MU-MIMO) from 4 x 4 (four antennas and four radios) to 8 x 8 (eight antennas and eight radios), increasing capacity by 4X and handling more devices. It introduces uplink MU-MIMO technology, improving system capacity and overall data rates.


2. Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access (OFDMA)


A new capability of Wi-Fi 6, OFDMA shares WLAN sub-channels to increase network efficiency and lower latency, with AirEngine APs scheduling concurrent downlink and uplink traffic. The result is reduced network contention, lower latency, and increased efficiency for high-demand environments.


3. 1,024-QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation)


Increasing throughput by to up to 9.6 Gbps by encoding more data within the same amount of spectrum, 1,024-QAM achieves transmission efficiency by up to 25% compared to Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), ensuring a seamless streaming experience.


4. BSS-Color Spatial Reuse Technique


Eliminating interference from neighbor’s wireless signals, Wi-Fi 6 introduces BSS (Base Service Station) Color. It identifies overlapping signals from adjacent APs and dynamically makes the necessary adjustments to minimize the contention, thereby improving spectrum resource utilization and optimizing the performance in dense environments.
