ØAbis over IP uses IP packet transmission, which is different from Abis over TDM in the following ways: Multiple users share the same transmission link for IP packet switched services while each user occupies a dedicated transmission link for TDM circuit switched services.
Therefore, using IP transmission improves capacity but may prolong the transmission delay for each user. Such transmission delay as well as IP packet loss will exert certain impacts on end-to-end network performance of GSM-R networks enabled with Abis over IP.
ØThe requirement for call setup time is defined in feature requirement specification (FRS) of European Integrated Railway Radio Enhanced Network (EIRENE). The requirement must be met when the Abis over IP feature is used.
In addition, if the GSM-R network transmits regulation control data, the QoS requirement for regulation control must be met. The preceding table lists the QoS requirements for Abis over IP bearer networks based on Huawei test data.
