A precaution about the Different types of 100G Transceivers and LC connectors
today I would like to share 2 practical cases :-
1- A precaution about the Different types of 100G Transceivers
-Today I want to share a case with you , which is so useful while installing /purchasing optical fiber 100G Transceivers .
- The 100G Transceivers have many types , they differs not only in the size but also in the power consumption , interfaces and transmission technology .

- As we were about connecting 100G with the Internet service provider , we found that there system uses
100G Base – CWDM ,QSFP28 as the 100G transceiver which uses SMF with a maximum distance of 2km , this standard uses LC connector , while we use 100G Base – LR4 - CFP2 , this type of Transceiver uses SMF for about 10km and also uses LC connector .
But The interconnection between them is not possible as they use different technology .
- 100G Base – CWDM uses 4 CWDM to transfer 4 channels of 25G in special lambda they are in Huawei 1264.5 , 1284.5 , 1304.5 , 1324.5 and they could be different in other companies.

- 100G Base – LR4 uses 4 to transfer 4 channels of 25G in special lambda they are in Huawei 1295, 1300,1304 , 1309 and they usually the same in all companies.

-We informed the ISP that the link will not work and that they must change the type of the transceivers into a compatible type .
- They changed the type of their Transceivers into 100G Base-LR4 and then we operated the link successfully.
2- A precaution about the Different type of LC connector
- Today I want to share a case with you , which is so useful while installing /purchasing optical fiber patch cords .
After the installation of the OSN9800 UPS , we started connecting boards with LC/LC patch cord , we chose short patch cord for inner connection between boards like M40V to OBU , LSC to M40V , LSC to D40 and OAU to D40 .
- Every thing was fine and we almost completed the acceptance test when we found that the door doesn’t close because the fiber connectors boot is long and because the boards of the OSN9800 like 19-LSC / 15OBU / 15OAU , use a pluggable units which have a straight ports (not angled) and so , when using LC/LC patch cord with a long boot it doesn’t allow door to close .

LC connectors have different boot
- We realized for first time that LC connectors have several types , then we had to replace the LC/LC patch cord with others of the short boot , then every thing went well .
Welcome to read and feedback
