Traditional Data Center Architecture
In traditional datacenters, a Layer 2 network can only extend to access or aggregation switches,and virtual machines (VMs) can only migrate within a Layer 2 domain. If VMsneed to migrate to another Layer 2 domain, the VMs' IP addresses must bechanged, and services will be interrupted during VM migration.

Next-Generation Data CenterArchitecture:
In the cloud computingera, IDC carriers require VM migration within a larger domain to better utilizedata center resources.
Because a large amount ofeast-west traffic needs to be transmitted between servers, non-blockingforwarding is required to fully use network link resources.


Data Center Development Trend:

VXLAN is the new technology , we need learn about it for further development .

This is a good case, it simply and clearly describe the different between traditional data center architecture and next-generation data center architecture. And introduced the data center development trend. And it make the views better understood by using graphical comparisons. Thank you for your sharing.

Distributed VXLAN gateway networking has the following characteristics:
    Flexible deployment. A leaf node can function as both Layer 2 and Layer 3 VXLAN gateways.
    Improved network expansion capabilities. A leaf node only needs to learn the ARP entries of servers attached to it. A centralized Layer 3 gateway in the same scenario, however, has to learn the ARP entries of all servers on the network. VXLAN quality of service (QoS) provides differentiated service in VXLAN applications. A device implements mapping between QoS priorities in original packets, internal priorities (local precedence assigned by the device to differentiate service classes of packets), and priorities of encapsulated packets.
