Trunk between Huawei CE6850 & Cisco 3560

Latest reply: Jan 28, 2018 00:51:27 6518 7 0 0

Hi All,

Since a couple of days we have 2 new Huawei CE6850 switches, we want to intergrate these with our Cisco core switches ( this will also be Huawei's next year )

Now I want to setup a trunk between them, but no succes. I hope someone can help, below the setup.

Cisco :

interface GigabitEthernet0/8
 switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
 switchport mode trunk

spanning-tree mode rapid-pvst
spanning-tree loopguard default
spanning-tree extend system-id
spanning-tree vlan 1 priority 28672

Huawei :

interface 10GE1/0/48
 port link-type trunk
 port trunk allow-pass vlan all
 stp edged-port enable
 jumboframe enable 9000

What am I missing?

 switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
 switchport mode trunk

spanning-tree mode rapid-pvst

spanning-tree loopguard default
spanning-tree extend system-id
spanning-tree vlan 1 priority 28672

If you want to know more about Cisco 3560 switch , you can follow Router-Switch.

spanning-tree mode rapid-pvst
// it should use starnd stp mode , pvst is cisco private protocol;

interface 10GE1/0/48
 port link-type trunk
 port trunk allow-pass vlan all
stp edged-port enable  // no need to use this command,it is for the port connecting terminal device

btw, GigabitEthernet0/8-----------10GE1/0/48
GE to 10GE , make sure the optical modules are correct.

These switches are UTP switches so no needs for modules :) according to huawei it should work with rapid-pvst of cisco.

See below, unfortunatelly it is not working with the above config.

------------------

Interoperation Networking Design

PVST+ is a Cisco proprietary protocol that uses a Cisco reserved multicast MAC address.
Huawei switches do not support Cisco PVST+. The following methods can implement
interoperation between Cisco PVST+ switches and Huawei switches:

? On a trunk port, Cisco PVST+ sends two types of BPDUs in VLAN 1: untagged Cisco
PVST+ proprietary BPDUs and standard RSTP BPDUs. Huawei switches can identify
RSTP BPDUs. When a Huawei switch connects to a trunk port of a Cisco PVST+ switch,
enable RSTP or MSTP on the Huawei switch so that it can work with the Cisco PVST+
switch.

? On an access port, Cisco PVST+ sends standard BPDUs. When a Huawei switch
connects to an access port of a Cisco RVST+ switch, enable RSTP or MSTP on the
Huawei switch.

? (Not recommended) Huawei switches forward Cisco PVST+ BPDUs as service packets
to access the Cisco PVST+ network. In this mode, the blocked ports are located on Cisco
switches

If you are looking for Cisco switch trunking support you can try NetEquity.com.  They sell and support
used cisco switches and are an excellent support resource. This post was last edited by user_2987913 at 2018-01-11 07:12.
