After an NE40 is configured as an NTP server, it cannot synchronize with the server. Detailed information is listed as follows:
[NE40]display ntp-service status
clock status: unsynchronized
clock stratum: 16
reference clock ID: none
nominal frequency: 100.0000 Hz
actual frequency: 100.0000 Hz
clock precision: 2^18
clock offset: 0.0000 ms
root delay: 0.00 ms
root dispersion: 0.00 ms
peer dispersion: 0.00 ms
reference time: 00:00:00.000 UTC Jan 1 1900(00000000.00000000)

Handling Process

1. Check the configuration of the NE40. In the client/server mode, the NE40 can be configured as a client with the command ntp unicast-server x.x.x.x source-interface LoopBack y.
2. The server can be pinged through on the NE40, indicating that the route is attainable.
3. Check the server configuration file. It is found that when the BITS device is selected as the server, the initial time deviation of the client cannot exceeds 60s.
4. Set an initial time to the NE40 using the clock datetime command and keep the time deviation from the server time within 60s. The NE40 can synchronize with the NTP server after the setting. Root Cause

When the BITS device is selected as the server, the initial time deviation of the client cannot exceeds 60s. Solution

Set an initial time to the NE40 using the clock datetime command and keep the time deviation from the server time within 60s. Suggestions

When the BITS device is used as the NTP server, besides configuring the server correctly, you must ensure that the time deviation between the client and the server is within 60s.
