Slow SNMP retrieval from S5700 switches - V200R009C

  Rewarded Hi-coins: 0 (problem resolved)

I have just started to look into the Huawei switches, in particular the S5700-52X-PWR-LI-AC.

I'm having some issues with SNMP monitoring. When I do a snmpwalk towards 2 x S5700 (stacked) it takes around 10 minutes to get all the results. Needless to say, that is very slow.
It seems to me that it is the interface and VLAN info. retrieval that takes the most time.
If I split the stack it takes about half the time, so I have ruled out the stacking as a problem.

When I first set up the switches with factory image (V200R003C...) this problem was not so obvious, so I think the problem started when we upgraded to V200R009C00SPC500.

Has anybody else experienced the same, and what can be done to remedy the situation?

You may want to try adjusting the cpu-defend settings.

For the patch, try "startup patch *filename*". Afterwards you can check it with "display startup".

Some update.

I added and activated a patch (V200R009SPH001) that were released on 30. Sept. 2016, and that improved the process to some degree, but it is still not good enough.

One question regarding the patch. It says that current state is Active. If I reboot the switch it says:

The state of the patch state file is: Active
The current state is: Deactive

And I have to run the patch active all to get current state to Active. Why does it say Deactive after a reboot?

patch active all .......
Info: Succeeded in activating the patch on the master board.
Info: Succeeded in activating the patch on the slave board....
Info: Finished activating the patch.

dis patch-information
Patch Package Name :flash:/s5700li-v200r009sph001.pat
Patch Package Version:V200R009SPH001
The state of the patch state file is: Active
The current state is: Active
