S5700 port in L3 mode - can‘t assign ip addess.

Hi

s5700 is supposed to be a L3 switch, but I can't assign an ip address to a GE port. I can set port to L3 mode (undo portswitch command) but I cane issue a "ip address x.x.x.x" command. How come?

hi, s00737324

The s5700's ports don't support L3 mode.

when you type the command"undo portswitch",it should print some information to tell user that this port don't support L3 mode etc. but now there is no any information, maybe this is a bug.

you can try to assign an ip address to a vlanif.

thank you!

Yes, that's definitly a bug. There no info about port not supporting L3 mode. What's more, after "switching" to L3 mode, there are new commands avaliable, for instance some vrrp related commands. Please find an example below.

portswitch

Hello,

Only the S5700HI supports the portswitch command.
I suppose that is the same situations like in S9300.
You can configure IP address only on subinterface.

Good morning , I performed a software upgrade to the latest available on the site ( S5700 V200R005C00SPC300 ) and thus commands " undo portswitch " and " ip address" became available .

Good day , we are segmenting our network and it bought two Switches S5700-28C - EI Layer 3 , where we will be using to perform the segmentation and the other for redundancy . The problem is that we are not able to activate the routing interfaces ( undo portswitch ) and also as a result of the previous problem , we can not configure IP interfaces . In both cases giving as are not supported / command identified . Bought specifically for these switches are Layer 3 and are unable to activate this feature by hardware limitation , what should we do ? This feature is essential for our need ! The equipment currently is with the following software version :

one option would be using point to point vlan between switches.

[sw1, gig0/0/1] ---- [sw2, gig0/0/1]

for example,

on sw1 create vlan 1000, int vlan 1000 ip address 10.0.0.1/30, port gig0/0/1 port mode access, default vlan 1000

on sw2 create vlan 1000, int vlan 1000 ip address 10.0.0.2/30, port gig0/0/1 port mode access, default vlan 1000
