Hi community.

I want to know how I can determine what is the last VRP version (v7, v8, etc) available for any of these switches. Is there a document that helps to support this?. Does any manual refer to this information? ... for example, manuals use the terminology "Product version" V200R010C000, but this is not related to the VRP version, is it?

VRP is a platform, and there is no VRP V7, there is VRP V5 and V8 by now, they are both used and the difference between V5 and V8 is the architecture.
all the switches except the CE series are based on V5 platform, the CE series switch is based on V8
hope this can help you.

You can refer to V200R010C000 as the version of the switches. To find it you can issue 'display version' and later you can use the reference from the support website.

But what does V200R010C000 have to do with VRP version?. As far as I know, the current is VRP v8, how can I know if V200R010C000 is VRP v8? ... the problem is that I do not have an equipment where to enter display version command.
I am trying to choose a switch with some tech specifications to propose it to a customer, obviously I will offer the last product version available, but how do I know if that version is VRF v7 or v8? ... I do not have that switch in a lab to enter the comand you suggest and verify it.

Hi Pedro,

This is just an OS (operating system) version that is running in Huawei devices. The V200R010 or sometimes referred as V2R10 is the firmware version for the device. It is two different things. Like Windows 10 and Windows XP. Instead we have VRP for this. Hope this clarifies.

Hi Kecekk,
What I need to know for any Huawei device that I choose (ARG3 router, Sx700 switch, CE Switch, etc.) is what version of the operative system VRP is coming with the equipment. How can I verify it before buying the product?
Besides that, what are the differences between VRP v7 and VRP v8 or other previous versions?, is there a comparative table or similar?

This post was last edited by Pedro.Miranda at 2019-02-19 00:20. Thanks Chenhui,
You are right, there is no VRP v6 or v7, but from this article:
VRP is an Network Operative System (NOS) not a platform (hardware).
Your extra information about what NOS is for Sx700 and what NOS is for CE is the answer I was looking for.
Now that I have that information, is there a similar link that talks about VRF v5?
I want to know if VRF v5 has also a completely modular design, like VRF v8 to improve system reliabiity.
Thanks for your support my friend
