In a full mesh mpls scenario, what is the best option for establishing ldp sessions with the least possible manual configuration?

Hi dear,

MPLS is highly scalable because it allows multiple labels to be carried on a packet and has a connection-oriented forwarding plane. Scalability enables MPLS/IP networks to provide various services. Label switching routers (LSRs) on MPLS networks use the LDP protocol to map Layer 3 routing information to Layer 2 switched paths, and establish LSPs at network layers.

LDP is widely used to provide virtual private network (VPN) services due to simple deployment and configuration, ability toestablish LSPs dynamically based on routing information, and ability to support many LSPs.

You can review this link, is about kinds of configuration for mpls ldp.

Thanks
For a large network, like with 30 routers, with a large number of tunnels, it's recommended to use Martini vs Kompella mode ?

Hello Gregory!
Looking at your requirements, you should consider is that LDP always relies on IGP (hope all loopbacks are in the same IGP area/level) and it is used in quite small MPLS service environments. Also, sometimes you need to have Full mesh LDP remote-peer configuration for particular VPLS/VLL service. As a good thing – you control everything.
Kompella - takes all better things from scalability of BGP – you may have RR to establish BGP peering with clients, reducing load on configuring Full mesh.
Also, you can think about new EVPN solution, which provides much better scalability – but as always – It depends.

@AGregory hello
Martini uses LDP to signal the VPN label between the PE devices, it requires explicit configuration for each p2p link.
Kompella uses BGP to signal the VPN label between the PE devices, it provides a mechanism to setup new p2p link automatically.
since kompella mode requires BGP configured on the devices, so it requires a more advanced device.
which mode is recommanded depends on your detailed requirements.

Thanks all for the feedback.
We're planning to use s6720 switches.
