I have an Huawei Router Router AR 150 Series to browse the internet and would like to block host names on router basis that would cover the whole network rather than on Host file level on each client. I have a list of IP and Hostnames that I would put in the hostfile but would like to deploy it to the router. Does anyone know how to do that. The exact model is AR157W

could you simply describe your intention, are you going to block some website for all clients, or you want to block some clients to access certain website ?

Hi,

similar to the host file on the windows system i want to redirect URLs to the IP 0.0.0.0 for the purpose of LAN wide ad blocking based on a list like this:

http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.txt

content like this:

# [Start of entries generated by MVPS HOSTS]
#
# [Misc A - Z]
0.0.0.0 fr.a2dfp.net
0.0.0.0 m.fr.a2dfp.net
0.0.0.0 mfr.a2dfp.net
0.0.0.0 ad.a8.net
0.0.0.0 asy.a8ww.net
0.0.0.0 static.a-ads.com
0.0.0.0 atlas.aamedia.ro
0.0.0.0 abcstats.com
0.0.0.0 ad4.abradio.cz
0.0.0.0 a.abv.bg
0.0.0.0 adserver.abv.bg

Basically when any device behind the router tries to access fr.a2dfp.net I don't want the DNS Server to resolve the IP but I want to direct him to the IP 0.0.0.0 in order to get no response for the request and not display any ad

anything on this? it is like setting a static route to a DNS to go to 0.0.0.0 as IP.

This way when an add on google.com/ads is loaded it will load nothing as 0.0.0.0 is not returning anything
