Hello!

I've configured a VPLS domain for my client. It works OK, but there is one problem. The client uses his own backup links. So as you could guess it caueses network loops in my network. Of cource, storm-control privents my switches' crashes, but to do that it disables client's ports. To solve this problem I decided to transfer client's BPDUs over VPLS. I configured l2protocol-tunnel stp enable on the interface to client's switch, but it seems that something went wrong. Because

dis l2protocol-tunnel statistics xg 1/0/23

Shows imput packets only:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Port            Protocol             Drop      Input     Output    Drop

                                     Threshold Packets   Packets   Packets

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

XGE1/0/23       stp                  0         22646     0         0

Could you give me a hint how I can solve this problem?

@VolanD hi,
in theoretically, when the link is blocked by the xSTP, the blocked interface will not forward traffic, in this scenario, one end of the blocked link will only have the incoming traffic, and another end will only have the outgoing traffic, just as picture below shows,

Thank you for your answer.

Here is the network topology:

you didn't draw the client's backup link?
if the backup link is connected between two CS with a directly connecting, maybe the reason is that the VPLS link is blocked by the xSTP.you could configure traffic policy to count the packets to check which type of the packets are received on the interface with which doesn't send packets out.

This post was last edited by VolanD at 2019-1-21 18:52. Yes, you are right, the client's backup link is connected between two CS. But don't the input packets mean that output packets must be seen there? Doesn't it mean the packets come into the network and have to come out on the other side?
