what's your root password mean? vty or console?

console:

system-view

[HUAWEI] user-interface console 0

[Huawei-ui-console0]set authentication password cipher xxx

for vty,follow l00192083's solution.

No, I forgot a password for console, I need to change them  without losing configuration.
I found only one method for reset them with "Ctrl+B" when loading device. But configuration reset with password.
Maybe there is another way?

Delete configuration file from S5300 to let it to boot with empty configuration
Let’s start with the first way:

Create configuration file on your PC. You can use default empty configuration downloaded from another switch

Thanks for your reply
Unfortunately I have old device and it dont have same menu

"7. Clear password for console user"

And if I use second or third method I still lose my configuration, becouse I need to remove old config to reset password.

Maybe I can download old config over tftp from bootrom to my laptop, write new password and upload to huawei?
I cant find any information about this.
