[All About Switches] Q&A: How Do I Obtain Information About S series Switches Stacking Support?

A: Three methods are available to obtain the information:

Method 1: Obtain the information through the Stack & SVF Assistant.

Step 1: Access the tool page: http://support.huawei.com/onlinetoolsweb/virtual/index?lang=en.

Step 2: Select S Switches iStack > Switch series > Switch sub-series > Switch model > Software version > Connection mode > Stack cable > Switch stacked together in sequence.

Note:

1.      If there are multiple sub-series, use the drop-down list to view all the sub-series.

2.      S series switch is classified based on the uplink interface type. For example: S5720-28X-SI-AC belongs to S5720-X-SI, and S5720-28P-SI-AC belongs to S5720-P-SI.

3.      All the switch models that can be selected in the tool support stacking. If some switch models cannot be selected, these switch models do not support stacking.

 

Method 2: Obtain the information from the Hardware Description based on your switch model.

Step 1: Log in to the enterprise technical support website at http://support.huawei.com/enterprise/en/index.html.

Step 2: Click Switches.

Step 3: Click the name of the product to be queried, for example, S5700.

Step 4: Choose Learn About Products > Hardware Description to find the Hardware Description for your switch model.

Step 5: Click Hardware Description, and choose Chassis. In the right pane, select your switch model, and click it.

Step 6: Find the section Technical Specifications and view Stack ports. If the stack port information is displayed, the switch model supports stacking. Otherwise, the switch model does not support stacking.

Method 3: Obtain the information from the product use precautions based on your switch series.

Step 1: Log in to the enterprise technical support website at http://support.huawei.com/enterprise/en/index.html.

Step 2: Click Switches.

Step 3: Click the name of the product to be queried, for example, S5700.

Step 4: Choose Recommended to find the Product Use Precautions for your switch model.

Step 5: Click Product Use Precautions, and choose Device Management. In the right pane, select the stacking support for your switch series.
