Is there any plan to support more VPN standards through firmware updates in the future?

Hello friend!

5G CPE Pro 2 is a Consumer device.

Currently, 5G CPE Pro 2 supports the following VPN standards:

  • L2TP VPN client;

  • PPTP VPN client;

  • IPSec VPN client (optional).

We are not sure whether the VPN standards supported by the device will be extended with the firmware in the future, but we have sent your suggestions back to the Consumer Services Platform.

Thanks!

Hello user_4382485,

we will show you how to set up VPN on a Huawei 5G CPE Pro 2 Router but first let’s see what are the requirements and our recommendations.

Things to Consider:

  • Router is connected to another device (Modem, another router, directly to ISP) that is supplying Internet access.

  • Own a premium PureVPN account (If you do not already own one, you can buy a subscription from here)

1To start set up VPN on the D-Link router you first have to connect to it. For that, you have to put in your browser the following address: http://192.168.0.1 (If this doesn’t work, please consult your router’s manual to find what is the Default Gateway Address). Enter your router’s password and click ‘Login’

Once logged in, go to the ‘Advanced’ option located at the top right corner.
Go to the ‘Router’ option and select to the ‘VPN’ option under it.
Check/Tick the ‘Enable VPN’ option and select Connection Type as PPTP VPN Client’.

Now enter the following information.

  • Dial-up Server Address: Please refer to the server address shared in the above note.

  • Insert your username & password as provided by PureVPN. (For further instructions on how to check your active PureVPN username and password click here.)

  • Click on the ‘Save’ button to apply the changes.

PureVPN is connected now on your Huawei Router.

     Thank You
