40G interface down when connecting through copper cable

Hello,

Our customer is facing an issue when connecting the switches using the copper cable.

If we install S6730 back to back along with the 40G copper cable, the interface will up and traffic can forward normally, instead, when connecting 40G SFP module into CE12800 40G interface, the interface does not turn up.

Please, kindly help to confirm is this normal? Or shall we do some asjustment to make the interface up.

Hi,
When using non-Huawei copper cable, we are not able to help.
For Huawei copper cable, when used for data transmission between service ports, copper cables can only connect Huawei switches of the same subseries. These copper cables cannot be used between Huawei switches of different subseries or between Huawei switches and other devices such as PCs, hosts, servers, or routers.
So, it’s normal, it’s not allowed to use the copper cable for data transmission between different subseries switches.

so you are saying if I am using two CE12800 switches, I can use the copper cables. but if I am using CE12800 with S9300 or other switch I can't use the copper

Exactly, for S9300, the copper cable only can be used to connect another S modular switch.
