Can not update the Ubuntu server

I hope this is regarding the proxy server authentication issue.

Due to this case you have to properly configure your proxy servers and follow the steps.

Always try to understand the fundamentals theory and it will be easy to move on this.

Step-01

Open your terminal and edit the apt.conf file:

sudo vi /etc/apt/apt.conf

Step -02

Add or Edit the following codes starting with Acquire keyword,

Acquire::http::Proxy "http://username:password@proxyhost:port/";

Acquire::https::Proxy "https://username:password@proxyhost:port/";

Acquire::ftp::Proxy "ftp://username:password@proxyhost:port/";

Sample CODE:

follow this sample and re-edit your proxy IP with the password.

My username      : zaheer

Password     : huawei@123

Proxy IP             : 10.1.1.20

Sample CODE:

Acquire::http::Proxy "http://zaheer:huawei@123@10.1.1.20:8080/";

Acquire::https::Proxy "https://zaheer:huawei@123@10.1.1.20:8080/";

Acquire::ftp::Proxy "ftp://zaheer:huawei@123@10.1.1.20:21/";

If your password contains special characters like @,$,! (e.g. huawei@123: huawei@123) then replace the special characters by their hex code equivalents with % prefix like this:

@==>@

$==>$

!==>!
