Methods for Calculating Traffic Specifications

If the ECU/EPU quantity based on bps is limited, the formulas for calculating traffic specifications are as follows:

l   Maximum GSM traffic specifications of the ECU = 160 Mbit/s

l   Forwarding traffic specifications of the EPU = 2048 Mbit/s

If the ECU/EPU quantity based on pps is limited, the formulas for calculating traffic specifications are as follows:

l   Maximum GSM traffic specifications of the ECU (Mbit/s) = 40000 x Average size of GSM packets x 8/1024/1000

l   Forwarding traffic specifications of the EPU (Mbit/s) = 500000 x Average size of UMTS packets x 8/1024/1000

If the average size of a GSM or UMTS packet exceeds 512 bytes, the packet must be segmented. Therefore, the maximum size of a GSM or UMTS packet must be 512 bytes.
