The EPU performance specifications are indicated by the number of SAUs. As described in the presentation, the EPU supports a maximum of 1,000,000 static PDP contexts. Actually, these PDP contexts are the static PDP context specifications of the EPU user plane. The EPU performance specifications mainly refer to the dynamic PDP context specification correlated with the traffic model. If SGSNs are deployed on a network that has only GSM and UMTS subscribers, the dynamic PDP context specification of the EPU is calculated as follows:

Dynamic PDP context specification of the EPU = Number of SAUs on the EPU x (Percentage of GSM subscribers x Percentage of the number of activated GSM subscribers to the number of attached GSM subscribers x Number of PDP contexts per activated GSM subscriber + Percentage of UMTS subscribers x Percentage of the number of activated UMTS subscribers to the number of attached UMTS subscribers x Number of PDP contexts per activated UMTS subscriber)

In this scenario, the dynamic PDP context specification of the EPU and the number of SAUs on the EPU have different indications but the same meaning. For example, if litchis are sold at 10 yuan per 500 g, this price is the same as 1 yuan per 50 g.

In addition, the USN9810 does not process user-plane data of the LTE system, and accordingly the PDP context specification of the EPU user plane is meaningless in this scenario. In conclusion, the EPU performance specifications are indicated by the number of SAUs.
