Scenario Description

Network
resources become insufficient during busy hours. Voice over IP (VoIP)
video services consume network bandwidths, affecting voice service usage
and fixed-line service charging. This problem is obvious
in 2G networks. This feature performs flow control on VoIP video
services (such as MSN_VoIP, Skype_VoIP, and Google-talk_VoIP) in 2G
networks during busy hours, preventing network congestion during busy
hours.

The bandwidth management (BWM) module on the UGW9811 can control system traffic. As shown in Figure 1,
flow control rules have been configured on the UGW9811 when subscribers
are activated. During busy hours, the UGW9811 decreases
bandwidths of some services to alleviate resource insufficiency and
improve subscriber experience on other services.

Requirement Description

Table 1
describes bandwidth control requirements. During busy hours (8:00 to
11:00 and 18:00 to 23:00), bandwidth control is performed on 2G
subscribers to alleviate resource insufficiency.

  • Flow control is performed for 2G subscribers.
  • Flow control is not performed for 3G subscribers.
