The CSFB with MSC Pool feature implements load sharing in a mobile switching center (MSC) pool by migrating UEs performing circuit switched fallback (CSFB). When an MSC in the MSC pool is to be upgraded, the maintenance engineer can issue a UE migration command on the operation and maintenance system (OMS). Upon receiving the command, the USN9810 considers this MSC as unavailable and migrates UEs from this MSC to another MSC in the pool. If an MSC becomes unavailable (for example, the MSC is faulty), UE migration will be triggered automatically.

Benefits

Carriers

Carriers can manage eNodeBs without upgrading all MSCs in the entire MSC pool. This feature can evenly distribute UEs to MSCs based on each MSCs capacity. In addition, different MSCs can serve the same area, which increases the success rate of voice services.

Subscribers

Subscribers can use high-speed Long Term Evolution (LTE) data services and CSFB-based voice services from the same UE.
