Symptom

The board cannot be powered on.

Possible Causes

  • The board is not configured.
  • The board does not match the frame or backplane.
  • The board type is incorrect.
  • The tact switch or a component is faulty, which can be determined by observing the indicators.

Fault Diagnosis

Locate the fault according to the possible causes.

Procedure

    1. Check whether the board is configured on the device panel of the local maintenance terminal.
      • Yes: Step 2
      • No: Run ADD BRD to Configure the board and then check whether the fault is rectified.
        • Yes: Step 8
        • No: Step 2
    2. Check whether the board matches the frame and the backplane.

Check whether the following symptoms are present:

      • Run mnt mbusinfo on the debug tool and boardtype:VIRTURAL is displayed.

NOTE:

For debug commands, see UMG8900 Debug Tool Operation Guide.

      • ALM-0082 Board configuration conflict is generated.

If these two symptoms are present, the board does not match the frame or backplane. Check whether the board matches the frame and the backplane.

      • Yes: Step 3
      • No: Replace the board with a matching board according to the version consistency table and then check whether the fault is rectified.
        • Yes: Step 8
        • No: Step 3
    1. Check whether the board type is correct.

Run mnt mbusinfo on the debug tool. Check whether the board type in the output is the same as the board type on the label on the board panel. For details, see Querying the Board Type and Version.

      • Yes: Step 4
      • No: Change the board type (see Modifying the Board Type and Version) and then check whether the fault is rectified.
        • Yes: Step 8
        • No: Step 4
    1. Observe the indicators on the MBus and determine the fault mode. For details, see Description of the Indicators on the MBus.
    2. Record the preceding fault location procedures and then collect fault information.

Run the mnt mbusinfo command through the debug tool, and then record the output.

    1. Replace the faulty board (see Replacing Boards and Board Accessories) and then check whether the fault is rectified.
      • Yes: Step 8
      • No: Step 7
    2. Provide the fault location procedures and collected information to Huawei technical support engineers.
    3. End.
