The S10 interface is the signaling interface between MMEs. Figure 1 shows the protocol stack of the S10 interface.

The protocol layers are described as follows:

GPRS Tunneling Protocol for the control plane (GTP-C): provides the tunnel for signaling messages between MMEs.
