Antenna Tilt

Antenna Tilt:

?          Tilting (mechanical & electrical) is the major tool to control signal level hence coverage and interference.

?          One should not depend too much on mechanical tilt to control signal level because:

–        Down tilt angle, opening angle and desired gain reduction is not uniform over the azimuth

–        Mechanical tilt make the back lobe up tilted causing interference to remote sites

–        Signal level will be good enough to interfere to a remote place if there is a LINE OF SIGHT with the GSM antenna even if the antenna is tilted considerably.

–        Antenna type that matches with the overall tilt demand on that particular site should be used. Adjustable electrical tilt antenna is preferable which will make house owner happy and also it is easier for installation. But care should be taken that desired electrical tilt is set during installation
