Antenna Height

Antenna Height:
Height is an option for radio planner to control signal level and hence coverage and interference. When there is less capacity demand and sites are distantly placed, use antenna height to have good coverage. But when capacity demand increase and the network becomes capacity restricted, we need to control the signal so that it does not interfere with signals of other nearby sites. The main tool here is lowering the antenna height. This is typical case in urban area. In a mature network, antenna height should be 3/4 meters higher than average building height. In HOTSPOT, antenna height can go lower than average building height to handle frequency constraint. Micro cell can be a choice here, where low again antenna with very limited coverage can be used. |
