Supporting Rulebase-Id delivery from an OCS server of UGW9811

User profile delivery procedure

The UGW9811 allows the OCS server to deliver the Rulebase-Id IE through a credit control answer-initial (CCA-I) message. The value of the Rulebase-Id IE corresponds to a user profile name on the UGW9811. In this manner, the UGW9811 can perform content-based charging for a specific PDP context/EPS bearer based on the value of the Rulebase-Id IE sent from the OCS server.

The UGW9811 processes only the Rulebase-Id IE in a CCA-I message during an activation procedure rather than the Rulebase-Id IE in a CCA-I message triggered by a service request. The online or offline charging mode must not be affected by the Rulebase-Id IE. The UGW9811 determines the charging mode for a subscriber based on the initial value of the Rulebase-Id IE but does not change the charging mode.

The selection of primary and secondary OCS server groups is not affected by the value of the Rulebase-Id IE. That is, the primary and secondary OCS server groups selected during the activation procedure are still used after the Rulebase-Id IE is delivered.

·         User profile priority

Currently, the user profile for a subscriber can be delivered from the policy and charging rules function (PCRF), delivered from the OCS server through a CCA-I message, delivered from the authentication, authorization and accounting (AAA) server through an authentication response message, or configured on the UGW9811. The user profiles from the PCRF, from the OCS server, from the AAA server, and on the UGW9811 are prioritized in descending order.
