Definition

The Rating-Group AVP is used to identify a rating group.

Application Scenario

All the services of the same rating type use the same rating group. The Service-Identifier AVP and the Rating-Group AVP are used to jointly identify a requested rating group.

The rating group can be configured in the ChargingAction action on the UPCC. It is delivered from the UPCC to the policy and charging enforcement function (PCEF) using the Charging-Rule-Definition AVP included in a CCA message to notify the PCEF of the rating group applied to the rule. This AVP is used in the proprietary fair usage policy (FUP) service provided by Huawei. The monitor key configured in a quota must be the same as the rating group configured in the ChargingAction action. This allows the PCRF to notify the PCEF of the service to which the quota associated with the monitor key is applied.

The PCEF includes the X-HW-Service-Usage AVP in a CCR message and sends the CCR message to the PCRF to report the data usage. In this case, other sub-AVPs such as the Rating-Group AVP are also included in the CCR message.

NOTE:
  • In V300R002C02, the Rating-Group AVP and Service-Identifier AVP are associated with sub-AVPs in the Charging-Rule-Definition AVP to correlate the data usage with the service flow.
  • In V300R002C05, the Rating-Group AVP maps the Monitoring-Key AVP defined in the Policy and Charging Control (PCC). In addition, the Service-Identifier AVP is not processed.
  • In versions later than V300R002C05, the Rating-Group AVP independently implements the interaction with the charging interface.

Related Configuration

  • To configure the FUP with which the data usage monitoring mode complies, run Modify Peer PCEF Ability Item for PCRF (MOD PCEFABIITEM) in the MML Command - UPCC window.

  • Configure this AVP by setting RatingGroup under ChargingAction in Action when configuring Action Group.
