| Application Scenario | The Usage-Monitoring-Information AVP is used in the Usage-based Dynamic Policy Control service, Rating-based Dynamic Policy Control service, and Shared Usage-based Dynamic Policy Control service. It is used to describe the 3GPP R9-based usage information exchanged between the PCRF and the PCEF. - If the PCRF includes this AVP in a CCA message and sends the CCA message to the PCEF, this AVP indicates the quota slice that the PCRF provides for a subscriber. It includes the Monitoring-Key, Granted-Service-Unit, and Usage-Monitoring-Level AVPs.
- If the PCRF includes this AVP in an RAR message and sends the RAR message to the PCEF, this AVP indicates the current usage to be reported by the PCEF. The usage to be reported is identified by the Monitoring-Key AVP. The Usage-Monitoring-Information AVP includes the Monitoring-Key and Usage-Monitoring-Report sub-AVPs.
- If the PCEF includes this AVP in a CCR message and sends the CCR message to the PCRF, this AVP indicates the total usage reported by the PCEF. The CC-Input-Octets and CC-Output-Octets AVPs are used to report the accumulated uplink and downlink usage. This AVP includes the Monitoring-Key, Used-Service-Unit, Usage-Monitoring-Level sub-AVPs. If this AVP does not carry the Usage-Monitoring-Level sub-AVP, the PCRF processes the reported usage as the session-level usage.
- If a subscriber is roaming and uses different quotas in different roaming regions, the PCRF uses the Usage-Monitoring-Support sub-AVP to instruct the PCEF to stop usage monitoring immediately. This AVP group includes the Monitoring-Key and Usage-Monitoring-Support sub-AVPs.
