Fault Type

ONT config state failed

Fault Description

Traffic streams are configured for an online ONT and no error message is displayed during the configuration. However, after the configuration is complete, traffic streams are unavailable. The queried Config state of the ONT is failed.

OLT version: SmartAX MA5600T V800R008C01

ONT version: EchoLife HG8240 V100R002C01

Alarm Information

None

Possible Cause

Parameters are incorrectly configured, or functions that are not supported by the ONT are configured.

Procedure

  1. Check the operation log. It is found that no error prompt or alarm is displayed during the configuration.
  2. Check the line profile. It is found that the line profile is correct.
  3. Run the display ont port vlan command to query the ONT port VLAN. It is found that the port VLAN of an ONT port is set to 0. It is suspected that this port VLAN causes the problem.
  4. Run the undo ont port vlan 0 command to delete port VLAN 0. It is found that Config state of the ONT becomes normal. Then, run the ont port vlan command to add port VLAN 0. It is found that Config state of the ONT is failed again. Therefore, it can be determined that the ONT port does not support VLAN 0.
  5. Query the value range of the port VLAN in the system. It is found that the value range of the port VLAN is 0 to 4095. Therefore, it is suspected that ONT ports do not support boundary VLAN IDs. Set the port VLAN to other boundary values, such as 4094 and 4095. Config state of the ONT is still normal.

Suggestion and Summary

The system displays that port VLAN IDs range from 0 to 4095, where, VLANs 1–4078 are configurable, and VLANs 0 and 4079–4095 are reserved VLANs. Therefore, do not configure port VLAN ID to 0 or 4079–4095 when configuring an ONU.
