Bandwidth Control on SBCSE2600
|
Purpose of Bandwidth Control: The SE2600 implements session-based quality of service (QoS) guarantee on real-time sessions. The implementation is that the SE2600 allocates a fixed amount of bandwidth to each session according to the codec type in each session to prevent bandwidth theft by unauthorized users.
The SE2600 uses session committed access rate (CAR) to control bandwidth use in a session based on the codec type of this session. Each codec type consumes a fixed amount of bandwidth and has a fixed IP packet header. Therefore, you can configure the SE2600 to allocate a fixed amount of bandwidth to each codec type. After the session CAR is enabled, the SE2600 allocates bandwidth to each session based on the negotiated codec type. For example, if G.711 codecs with the packetization time of 20 ms are used in a session, the SE2600 allocates 96 kbit/s bandwidth to this session. If G.729 codecs with the packetization time of 40 ms are used in a session, the SE2600 allocates 24 kbit/s bandwidth to this session. Table (1) shows the bandwidth allocated by the SE2600 for audio various codec types. Table 1 Bandwidth allocated by the SE2600 for various audio codec types
